Erik Verbič (born 12 May 1993) is a Julianan association footballer who currently plays for NK Partena and the Juliana national football team. Verbič is a young, very quick, and skillful player who is considered as one of the key players for the national team, who despite naturally playing as a Striker, can play as an Attacking Midfielder or Winger too. He has been linked heavily with a move to several Brunanter and Traspesian clubs.
Verbič is a fan favourite at NK Partena, and is considered to be the best player at the club. As a supporter of NK Partena, he is happy to stay at the club, and is unlikely to leave unless he receives large wages. He has been compared to the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero, and is nicknamed the "Juliano Messi".
In 2009, Verbič's talent was spotted by a wide range of clubs, including foreign clubs. Erik chose his supported club NK Partena, and stated it was his lifelong dream to play for them. He was originally a reserve, however in an injury crisis in 2010, Verbič was chosen to play. He scored two goals, earning him a solid first team spot. He quickly became considered an important talent, and became the starting striker for the Juliana national U-20 football team. After impressive performances at NK Partena, he quickly became a starting player for the Juliana national football team, and the key player for Partena. He was heavily linked with moves away from Partena, with Pisona F.C. interested in purchasing the player for several millions. Several offers were accepted, however Verbič rejected all contract offers, stating "I have no intention of leaving NK Partena.". He quickly became one of the key talents in Juliana, scoring approximately 20-30 goals per season consistently. Many believe Partena relied on Verbič in the 2010 season, and without him, would have performed less well.
Erik Verbič is considered to be a key figure for the Juliana national football team. He has represented Juliana in international football since 2009, originally playing for Juliana's youth team. In 2012, Verbič's performances were noticed by the senior team, and he was promoted. He has since become a starting and important figure for the team, scoring over 20 goals for the senior side in just 22 matches. He had the option to play for the Slovenia national football team, however stated the following: "Juliana will offer me a larger opportunity, and I would love to represent my home country".
